risd! the musical

i was in charge of design and production of sets and props for a 6-week student-run theater workshop at the rhode island school of design
--
the production was composed of many quick vignettes, so elaborate sets were kept to a minimum. we instead relied on cardboard and paper props that were easy to move and cheap to make.
since the students were so familar with the situations (and thus, the scenes and objects) in the production, the props were simplified to playful icons. this contributed to a 'comic' feel, maintained cohesion, and provided contrast to the few, poignant extravagent moments (the major 'sorting' and the bollywood graduation dance sequence).
